PADI Self Reliant Diver

Do you enjoy the sound of silence or just your own bubbles?

Welcome to the Self Reliant Diver Speciality course. The course that will make solo diving, a safe and enjoyable experience where there is no more waiting for your buddy or following the crowd! Just enjoying the scenery and taking time to focus on you for a change.
Throughout the speciality course, you will learn how to conservatively plan dives with redundancies, what types of equipment you will need and how to use it, self-rescue techniques and how to enjoy diving safely without a buddy.

What is involved in the course?

When you enrol on the Self Reliant Diver speciality course, you will be given a Crewpack for an element of home study and enrolled for a pool or confined water training session where we will teach you how to configure your equipment, use of a bailout cylinder and review self-rescue techniques and planning.
When it comes down to the open water dives, your instructor will be shadowing you from a distance to evaluate your skills and comfort in the water, on the surface you will be discussing evaluation techniques and pre-dive planning to ensure your dive is always a safe and enjoyable experience.

The course includes:

  • Three open water dives
  • Gas planning
  • Use of our bailout cylinders and regulators
  • Self-Reliant skills whilst maintaining buoyancy
  • Certification Card
  • The course will count towards your PADI Master Scuba Diver rating

Course fee £245.00

* Please note, all courses are valid for 12 months from day of purchase.

Site entrance fee: There is a fee for open water dives requiring entry to an inland dive site, payable daily by the student. Any boat costs if relevant, will be agreed prior to the course. 

Full SCUBA Equipment is required for the Course. If you need any equipment, you can hire this from Island Divers – just give us a call!

Proof of current qualification and experience, (log book and cards), must be provided on day one of the course.
