If you've always wanted to enter the underwater world quietly, on your own terms, staying as long as your breath allows, then freediving is for you. Taking the PADI Freediver course is your first step toward discovering why freediving is becoming a popular way to explore beneath the waves.
At Island Divers we currently offer the PADI Basic Freediver and the full PADI Freediver courses.
The PADI Basic Freediver course is a subset of the PADI Freediver course. It's a great first step in Freediving and covers:
Knowledge development about freediving principles through independent study with PADI Freediver eLearning
Confined water session to learn breathold techniques as well as static and dynamic apnea. Goal – static apnea of 90 seconds and dynamic apnea of 25 meters
Certification – this counts towards the full PADI Freediver certification.
Course fee is £145 which includes use of basic Freediving equipment and the PADI Freediver elearning package.
To enroll in a PADI Freediver course you must be at least 12 years old. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health.
The PADI Freediver course consists of three main phases:
Knowledge development about freediving principles through independent study with PADI Freediver eLearning
Confined water session to learn breathhold techniques as well as static and dynamic apnea. Goal - static apnea of 90 seconds and dynamic apnea of 25 metres/80 feet.
Open water sessions to practice free immersion and constant weight freedives, plus proper buddy procedures. Goal - constant weight freedive of 10 metres/30 feet.
Course fee is £425 reduced to £325 if you have completed your Basic Freediver with us three months prior to your course (entry fee to inland sites not included).
Use of long fins, low volume mask, snorkel, freediver weight belt, gloves, hood and closed cell wetsuit all included Plus, a £50 voucher to be used for buying your own open cell Fourth Element Freediver wetsuit when purchased from us!
